LED Operation

A Light Emitting Diode (LED) is a heavily doped p-n junction that emits light when forward biased. Electrons and holes recombine at the junction, releasing energy as photons. The color of light depends on the semiconductor's band gap energy.

In this simulation, you can select different LED colors and adjust the forward current to see how it affects light emission intensity. The light intensity increases with current up to an optimal point, then decreases.
