This simulation demonstrates the principle of light reflection from a galvanometer mirror. When light reflects off a mirror that's tilted by an angle θ, the reflected light ray is deflected by twice that angle (2θ) from its original path.
d = D × tan(2θ)
Where:
- d is the displacement of the light spot on the screen
- D is the distance from the mirror to the screen
- θ is the angle of mirror deflection
Galvanometers use this principle to measure small electric currents. The current causes the mirror to rotate slightly, and the amplified light spot movement allows for precise measurements.
