Understanding Rectifier Frequency Effects

Half-wave rectifiers pass only the positive half-cycle of the input waveform while blocking the negative half-cycle. This results in an output frequency identical to the input frequency (fout = fin).

Full-wave rectifiers convert both positive and negative half-cycles of the input waveform into positive output. This effectively doubles the output frequency (fout = 2 × fin).

Note: The output frequency is a crucial parameter in power supply design as it affects ripple voltage and filtering requirements.
