Theoretical Background
Young's double-slit experiment demonstrates the wave nature of light through interference patterns.
The position of bright fringes (constructive interference) is given by:
yₙ = nλD/d
Where:
- yₙ = Distance from central maximum to nth bright fringe
- n = Order of the fringe (0, ±1, ±2, ...)
- λ = Wavelength of light
- D = Distance from slits to screen
- d = Separation between the two slits
