Physics Information
This simulation demonstrates the elongation of a steel wire when a mass is whirled in a vertical circle.
The formula used is: Δl = (mg + mlω²)l / (AY)
Where:
- Δl = Elongation of the wire
- m = Mass
- g = Acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s²)
- l = Length of the wire
- ω = Angular velocity (in rad/s)
- A = Cross-sectional area of the wire
- Y = Young's modulus for steel (2 × 10¹¹ Pa)
