Angular Momentum in 3D Space
Angular Momentum in the x-y Plane
When a particle moves only in the x-y plane (z = 0, p_z = 0), the angular momentum components reduce to:
lₓ = y·p_z - z·p_y = 0
lᵧ = z·pₓ - x·p_z = 0
l_z = x·pᵧ - y·pₓ
lᵧ = z·pₓ - x·p_z = 0
l_z = x·pᵧ - y·pₓ
This simulation demonstrates that the angular momentum vector only has a z-component when the particle is constrained to the x-y plane.
Current angular momentum: l = (0, 0, 2)
