3D Center of Mass Visualization

Explore how the center of mass varies with different 3D geometric shapes

Understanding Center of Mass in 3D

The center of mass is the average location of the mass distribution in an object. For objects with uniform density, it coincides with the geometric center.

In this 3D visualization, you can rotate the view with your mouse/touch, zoom with the scroll wheel/pinch, and pan by dragging while holding the right mouse button or two fingers.

Note that the center of mass doesn't always lie within the physical material of the object (as demonstrated by the ring example). This concept is fundamental in physics and engineering applications.
