Physics Explanation
This simulation demonstrates an elastic collision between two pendulum bobs of equal mass:
- When released, bob A swings down under gravity
- At the bottom, it collides elastically with stationary bob B
- In a perfectly elastic collision of equal masses, bob A transfers all its momentum to bob B
- Bob A comes to rest while bob B moves away with bob A's original velocity
