Cork Oscillation Simulation
Simple Harmonic Motion of a Floating Cork
When the cork is depressed slightly and released, it oscillates up and down with simple harmonic motion. The restoring force comes from the buoyant force of the displaced liquid.
Period: T = 2π√(hρ/ρ₁g)
Where:
h = height of cork
ρ = density of cork
ρ₁ = density of liquid
g = acceleration due to gravity
